I'm a very ambitious person and have all the ambition I need to get through college. My problem though is that I don't know what field of study I want to go out in. I won't have the chance to try and figure it out while getting my generals out of the way because I'm graduating with an Associates degree this spring when I graduate high school. My intrests are language and culture. I also really like to travel and I love to be outside. My hobbies include hunting, hiking, fishing, boating, and nearly any outdoor activities. I want to incorporate my intrests into the field of study I want to go out in. I just don't know what that is. I know that I need a job where I'm continually learning something and not sitting at a desk all day. A desk job would be the death of me! I'm always up for a challenge and have very good academic standing so I'm ready to take on a challenging major. If any one has any idea what might be a good major for me, let me know. Thanks!

Just remember, don't feel obligaed to try and find a major that fits all your interests. I came to the same realization. I like so many things, and the hard part about is I like so many opposites, I love both language and culture and traveling and people, but I also love math and science and construction. Just remember, you can have side-hobbies and minors also. Or you can double major.

Perhaps you can try teaching language in a foreign country?

Conservation and land management---google "land management postions"
and you will get idea on whats available and whats required as far as education.---just an idea

Linguistics? International Relations? Some sort of cultural studies program? (Ie, East Asian Studies, American Studies...there are lots of interdiscinplinary programs that meld language and culture).

You pretty much described my interests. Consider anthropology or archaeology.

musicamusica's suggestion was a good one. One of my geology professors specializes in beach erosion and spends much of his time at various beaches. Not bad, eh?

Outdoor jobs:

Also look at geography (human and/or physical) or environmental studies...

You have lots of options.
