Hi everybody! I’m a freshman in college doing pre-pharmacy and was wondering what would be a better major: Biology or Kinesiology and Health Sciences? For biology I feel like it sounds harder than Kinesiology and my parents and friends think Biology would be a better major since no one really knows what Kinesiology is… But kinesiology with a concentration in pre med fits much better into the pre-pharm requirements and I could possibly graduate a year early. I don’t really enjoy my college life so graduating a year early is really tempting. I also hear that Kinesiology is easier than biology. I really don’t know what to do though.
Perhaps you should choose one that you are more interested in since you stated you’re not really enjoying college life.
Have you talked to an admissions or academic adviser as to what would be best within the pre-pharm requirements? It sounds like you’re looking for the easiest option.
OP, GPA is very important to pre-med and pre-pharm. Choose the major that you think you could get the highest GPA.
I agree, talking to an academic adviser at your school would be the best place to start. Also consider what fall back career fields might result from each degree.
I wouldn’t worry about graduating earlier (if financially possible)…take less classes per year so you can do well in them and also do whatever volunteering/working in a pharmacy that is needed.
^This. Especially being pre-pharm, take your time and take fewer classes so you can concentrate more time on them and give yourself time to shadow a pharmacist.
As for the major - it’s difficult because different thing are easier or harder for different people. I would imagine the average student find kinesiology a bit easier than biology, but there are biological and anatomical components to a kinesiology major.
