What major should I choose?

I'm a high school junior who thought I-banking was for me. Since watching the apprentice I have found out otherwise. The money in I-banking was the only real reason I wanted to do it. I don't really find it fun, and the hours are just way TOO much. Since watching The Apprentice Los Angeles, I've found out I would like to go that route. I would like to maybe be an entrepreneur , manager, owner/CEO of a company. What should I major in? Thanks

well i would say that an entrepreneur major is an obvious fit. i really dont know much about this program, i used to think it was dumb to have a major to start your own business but i have realized that it can be quite useful. if you want to work your way up the management ladder at another corporation, a management major may not be a bad idea. this is kind of a jack of all trades major and you learn a little bit of everything about business. IMO, there is no "best" major to become CEO because you are only going to be in the running for that elite position after years of experience. there is no CEO major, you just have to prove yourself worthy and there will be stiff competition. also, do some research on google. it is kinda cool to do little background checks on some top dogs and big corporations to see what path they took to greatness. good luck in finding the right major.

A lot of CEOs have management backgrounds. However, if you've worked at a company long enough to become CEO, you've done plenty of on-the-job managing. More and more new CEOs are finance or accounting majors. An MBA doesn't hurt either.

All your dream jobs are pretty lofty. Just remember you won't find yourself in those positions without years of hard work and dedication.

Not to sound overly critical... but you shouldn't be basing your major decision off of the Apprentice.

I recommend majoring in finance. It is tougher to learn the technical skills on the job. It is easier to pick up the strategy/management aspects and is always easier to transition from technical to non-technical.

While I recommend finance, if you really don't like finance you could reach a desired result with other majors also (econ, mgt, accounting etc). IMO, your goal should be to land a management consulting job upon graduation. That will give you the best opportunity to transition to a management/executive position in the future. It does require a lot of hard work though.
