Hey guys,
I will likely be attending Cal State Fullerton in the fall (I got in) and the major I selected was business administration. I’m not sure what I want to do in life but I know for sure it has to do with business. Alot of people say business administration is a useless major and I think it would be good to reconsider. I have also been considering accounting as a major but I am not too great at math? Can anyone give me some insight? Or at least some pros and cons?
Any help at all would be great. Thanks
For starters, your 2 posts were in the middle of the night on the east coast.
Anyway, why not leave it as is for now? You’ll start off with Gen Ed courses and some intro business courses. They may give you a better idea of a concrete direction.
And I bet you a dollar that the people naming your major “useless” are other kids who have no better an idea than you.
So that’s one vote for keep my major. Thank you bjkmom, anybody else?
I don’t think it is a useless major, but I think you should consider what you are interested in doing and what type of personality you have. My degree is in business administration with a major in management, looking back I think that I should have gone for a different degree. There are many people that I graduated with that are quite successful with the same degree, but they are much more outgoing and the type to go out and make their own opportunities. As it turns out most of my work experience has been more accounting type jobs, but I am finding that many good jobs which match with my experience require an accounting degree. I have a management degree but no experience related to that area, since math was my best subject I should have gone into something that required more math and less of an outgoing personality.
Thanks HeartofDixie for your insight. Could you give me some examples of what I could do with an accounting degree? Or the type of math I would be using? Thanks again
Who else has got an opinion on the matter?
