What majors would I possibly enjoy if I enjoy math/sciences?

I'm currently a senior in high school with a 3.24 GPA, and I'm going to be a freshman at West Virginia University next fall. I'm somewhere around top 40% of my class, and I'm not in any AP or honors classes, so you could say I'm somewhat above average academically. This year, I'm taking physics and pre-calc classes, and I mostly get As and Bs in both, and I sort of enjoy both classes because I actually understand what we learn (most of the time). Also, I like the types of sciences with more math and formulas involved (I absolutely hated bio). I got a best combined 1640 on my SATs with a 560 in math. I first decided that I wanted to be a civil engineer, but I'm having second thoughts because of the crazy amounts and such advanced classes, and I'm not sure it would be for me just because I like math and sciences. When I graduate college, I want a job where I make a good salary and it won't be hard for me to find a job itself. One of the more important things with me is that I do not want to be sitting behind a desk all day in a cubicle. I want to be out in the field working, as I love the outdoors, but I like working at a desk as well, so a half and half mix would be ideal. I'm friendly, very outgoing and I like to work with a team, as I'm an athlete, but sometimes I enjoy quiet, independent work and accomplishing things on my own. I like working with my hands and building things, as I've taken three years of woodshop at my school, but I'm not much of a tinkerer. I'm a hard worker and always willing to learn, as I've worked a tough farm job throughout high school. I prefer doing things by following instructions or step by step, but sometimes I can figure out things for myself. I enjoy working on or with computers, as I've loved using them all my life, but I could never sit on one all day programming stuff. I'm responsible and trustworthy, but when it comes to making decisions, I like having the input or advice from other people. Also, the business and economics side of things somewhat appeals to me because of the money, math and power, but I realize that a lot of it consists of being behind a desk, and not much work out in the field. So, basically I would like some advice from you guys as to what majors/types of jobs might appeal to me. I want something with a good salary and job security, and something that I can enjoy doing for the rest of my life. I'm going to work and study hard in college, but I still want to be able to go out and party normally. I've been scrambling and researching the past few weeks different kinds of majors, but I can't find anything that sticks out to me like "that's the one." So please, if anyone could give me any advice or let me know of some different jobs or majors that I might like, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Civil or Environmental Engineering would be good choices based on your interests. Building Construction would also be a good fit, but it doesn’t look like WVU offers that.

Would the math and sciences be impossible for me though since I’m not in high level honors/AP classes and I’m not near the top of my class?

My expectation would be that if you like pre-calculus and physics and get good grades in them, you should be capable of handling CE curriculum.

I hope so. Thanks for your posts!

i think geology would suit you, its a science with a lot of mathematics :)

I wouldn’t enjoy learning about rocks or the earth, but thanks anyway!
