What makes Bowdoin special?

With the hordes of LAC’s in the Northeast, what do you think separates Bowdoin from the rest?

The people are ridiculously friendly. I'll give you an example:

This past February/March I was planning overnight visits to Bowdoin and another northeastern LAC over spring break. I had already booked flights when I discovered that Bowdoin happened not to have official overnight visits during the time I would be there. Since I already had plane tickets, I was locked into that time.

I PM'ed a Bowdoin student who posts on this board and asked for some assistance. Despite never having been previously aware of my existence, he volunteered to ask around to see if I could crash in anyone's room, and offered up the couch in his social house library as an option if nothing else worked out. He also was happy to let me, some random prefrosh, hang out with him all day.

From everything else I saw on that visit, such friendliness is the rule, not the exception, at Bowdoin.

yeah exactly what this kid was saying i remember him posting about it months ago and the response he got, etc.

bowdoin people are really nice in general, not just superficially so.
and the place is awesome, and food is number 1 in the country so yeah can't beat that. plus, the oldest freshman dorm on campus is less than 1 year old.
most of them are brand spankin new (renovated) .

catfish who are you btw?
are you going to bowdoin?

Sadly, he has chosen to attend another prestigious New England School. If I had offered up my own bed instead of the Ladd couch, would it have changed your mind? :-p

Congratulations on all of the acceptances that you received.

And in terms of separation, I think you have to visit campuses to check. Do you like the feel? Do you like the students? Do you like the general atmosphere?

bobow98, I'm going to Amherst. Bowdoin was a close 2nd.

Thanks Oliver. I didn't mind that couch actually. It was very comfy.

That's pretty impressive. Loan a couch to someone you've never seen before.

:-p .
