I know microeconomics has a reputation for being very difficult but what makes it so hard?
Im in a situation where if I take Econ E 201 right during the spring, I can enroll for a summer semester and start I core in the Fall. My other option is to take Econ E 201 during the summer at a community college and then sign up for another easy semester during the fall to knock out the remaining pre reqs and start I Core in Spring 2015.
Last semester I took:

= 13.5 credits
And ended with a 3.56 for my first semester

Next semester my current schedule is:
C204
T275
X201
FINA-N 198
STAT-S 301

=13.5 credits

I was thinking about maybe dropping my stats class and knocking out ECON E 201 and A100 (already completed managerial and financial accounting at a community college and have a high school background of accounting as well)
Do you guys think this is too risky? Im applying to Kelley this semester.

You should keep S301 which is a substitute for E370. I would drop N198, add A100, and register the online E202 (which is E201 for IUB) per link below through Ivytech ASAP. Call first to confirm the course #. Then, you will have G202 for the coming summer. You can drop S301 instead of N198; but, you will have to take it in summer.

nico and ace, last summer only business majors could register for S301 per the schedules that are still online from summer 2013. The sections were for business majors only. So, nico would not be able to take S301 this summer, unless the requirement were changed, since he will not have been accepted into Kelley when the class starts. I don’t think the summer 2014 schedule will be out until sometime in February or after, so nico probably should take S301 now rather than risk not being able to take it this summer.

I agree with Ace that you should do A100 this spring.

Also, it might be possible to do Econ E201 online from some cc somewhere on the planet in a six or eight-week term and get the grade transferred to IUB in time to be eligible for G202 this summer. It’s too bad you haven’t already taken E201, but maybe you can still get it online this semester; but don’t expect to take it in a semester that ends in early May and still be able to get the grade transferred to IUB in time to take G202.

Ivy Tech Bloomington has a microecon class online that runs Jan 13-March 8 but it looks like it is full.

E201 is way more difficult at IUB than at a cc. At a cc (at Ivy Tech-Indianapolis, anyway; but you would still only need a solid C in it from to transfer credit to IUB), you get tests that essentially just involve remembering definitions. Also, classes are smaller and the competition from other students is not what it is at IUB.

In contrast to cc intro econ tests, at IUB not only have to know the definitions, you have to be apply to apply them on a fairly sophisticated level for an intro class. You have to be able to evaluate how outputs are affected in situations that usually require knowing more than one definition/concept in each question. It is a lot more difficult than just regurgitating definitions. Also, at IUB, classes are sink or swim with the huge number of students in each section and better overall students than at cc.

If you don’t have the prerequisites to register for a course at the time of registration, the registrar can enroll you in the course. I registered for A311 in the spring of 2012 for the Fall of 2012, and was planning to take managerial at CC over the summer. I got enrolled in the course by emailing the registrar, then they required me to email a screenshot by the first week of classes proving I successfully completed managerial. The course didn’t actually get transferred until late September.
