I’m going to be a freshmen, and I cannot decide on what math course to take for my first sem. : math 10a,1a, or 16a???
same goes for chem???
someone plz gimme some advice??
Definitely take Chem 4A and Math 110 your first semester. You’ll love it!
What is your intended major? Do you have math or chemistry AP or college credit?
Basically, you need to choose courses that will be accepted by your intended major and fulfill pre-med course requirements (as described at https://career.berkeley.edu/Medical/PrepPrereq ). If you take advanced placement with AP credit, you will have to take a more advanced course in that subject for many medical schools that want to see college courses instead of AP credit.
Rudemagic is definitely joking/teasing/lying fyi.
10A because it includes statistics which med schools like, along with calculus and the bio major likes it too.
Chem 1A because that’s what you take. Chem 4A is for chem majors, not bio people.
There you go. Any other questions?
Take Math 1A if you are not sure what to major in and you want flexibility to for majors like engineering, computer science, physical science, math, etc. 1A is the harder math and is more flexible to go down to a little easier one.
@rudemagic Why do you say @ironweasal needs to take MATH 110 “Linear Algebra”, an upper division math course with a bunch of prerequisites, when you do not even know what his/her major is going to be?
@ElenaParent It’s cool I ended up choosin Chem 1a and MATH 10a.
