What math class did you take when?

8th Honors Geometry
9th Honors Algebra II
10th Honors Pre-Calculus
11th AP Calculus
12th possibly AP stats

9 - geometry
10- alg 2/ trig
11 - precal
12- honors calc

(but i am in alabama where public education died long ago)

8 - Calc AB
9 - Calc BC, Geometry
10 - Multivariable
11 - Linear alg, diffeq's
12 - Number Theory, Modern Algebra (group theory)
Now - Retaking the linear/multi/diffeq sequence with Stanford's honors series, which is completely different from the normal courses in these subjects.

Yeah, EPGY + community college 1/2 mile from both home and school + reasonably cooperative school system = Happy.

Has anyone here taken AoPS classes? Taken them in lieu of the standard curriculum rather than just a supplement?

What's the "Stanford honors" series?

8th-Algebra I
9th- Adv Geometry
10th- Algebra II/Trig
11th- Functions/Analytic Geometry (my county's highest precalc class)
Next year- AP Calc AB

NOVA

8th- algebra 1 honors
9th- geometry honors
10th- algebra 2 honors
11th- precalc honors + self-study calc BC
12th- AP stats or maybe multivariable at local CC

8th alg 1
9th geo n alg 2
10th pre-cal
11th calculus I (at cc)
12th ap calculus bc

9th - enriched geometry
10th - enriched algebra ii/iii
11th - honors precal
12th - ap calc ab

Even though no one will read this...

8th - Math 9 H
9th - Math 10 H
10th - Math 11 H
11th - Math Theory (Precalc Honors)
12th - Calc BC

7th: Algebra H
8th: Geometry H
9th: Trig H
10th: PreCalcH
11th: AP Calc BC
12th: AP Stat & Linear Algebra from either some college or at... ocw.mit.edu, :)!

CC is one of the few places where taking Calculus in Junior Year seems only adequate...

7th: MACAT Algebra I
8th: MACAT Geometry
9th: MSC Acc. Algebra II
10th: MSC Acc. Analysis
11th: MSC AP Calculus BC
12th: MSC Advanced Topics in Mathematics (Discrete/AP Stats)

MACAT & MSC are gifted programs for middle and high school, respectively.

cooljoe: the Stanford honors series is linear/multi/diffeq, but taught from a very different perspective. They're entirely proof-based, much harder, and a lot more advanced. It's nothing like the standard sequence in those subjects. In the "multivariable" quarter, for example, we actually study mostly analysis and a bit of the foundations of topology.

9th - geometry
10- algebra2/precal
11- Calc ABC - (BC test)
12- IB Math Methods SL

9: Adv. Analysis 2 (Precalc)
10: Calc BC
11: Multivariable
12: Either taking Linear or Data structures (<- which is more computer than math...)

9th: AP calc BC
10th: multivariable/linear algebra
11th: math independent study
12th: (will be in Sept) math independent study + project

9th: Precal
10th: skipped my grade lol
11th: AP Calc AB / IB Math SL
12th: AP Calc BC / IB Math HL

the funny thing is calculus is only part of math, and
people who are already accepted by MIT, Stanford in my school etc said IB math HL actually is harder than Cal BC

lol

9th - Algebra II
10th - Precalculus
11th - AP Calculus BC
12th - Number theory, multivariable calculus, linear algebra

9th: Geometry/Algebra
10th: Discrete Mathematics, Precalculus
11th: Calculus BC, Statistics
12th: Multivariable Calculus/Differential Equations, Linear Algebra

9th: Geometry
10th: Algebra 2
11th: Pre-calculus
12th: AP Calculus AB

9th-Geometry
10th-Algebra 2
11th-Precalc, Stats
12th-AP Calc BC

Our school might offer MVC starting next year, but I won't be able to take it senior year because I sucked at math in mid school and started Algebra 1 in 8th grade.
