Hi. I'm a freshman at the University of Vermont and I'm a business administration major. I have to plan what classes I'm going to take during my time here at UVM as a part of my assignment for a business class. As a business admin major I'm required to choose one of these major themes: global business, sustainable business, and entrepreneurship. Since I'm a dual US citizen that have spent my whole life living in Europe and I love traveling and exploring new places, cultures, and eventually I may want to come back to Europe after college and possibly work in some international business firm I'll most probably choose Global Business theme. Aside from that I can optionally choose concentration: finance or accounting or business analytics or marketing. I'm thinking about choosing finance since it seems like the best fit. Finally I'm required to declare at least one minor. And here are two minors I'm considering: computer science and parks, recreation and tourism. The second one appeals to me more just because I'm not that great when it comes to math. I mean, I'm taking pre-calc right now and I'm doing really well (98/100 on my first midterm), but I've heard that CS is really heavily math based and I worry I won't have enough skills to do well in that minor. I have to keep 3.0 GPA too every semester and that's my priority, because otherwise I will losoe my financial aid. Would CS minor really set me apart in the long run? Or should I stick to a minor that seems more interesting and at the same time easier (parks, recreation, tourism) = less likely to affect my GPA. Finally I can also plan it out and have double minor in those two areas. But is it really worth it? Should I rather take some relatively easy and interesting electives (e.g geography courses, spanish language, anthropology etc, since I want to do global business) and focus on keeping high GPA in business classes? Thank you in advance.
