Right now, whenever I pick up my BB, I put it down 5 minutes later to go on the computer, watch TV, or go outside. What is keeping/kept you studying? I just can't motivate myself to study and would like to hear some stories :D . I keep telling myself my score is good, but it isn't where I want it to be.

Lol im in the exact same boat as you. One thing is to think that a higher score will get you into a much better school, which is sometimes true. Best way to beat distractions? Go to the library with only your sat books and a pencil. If you cant go to the library, unplug your tv/computer and dont let yourself plug it back in.

I got a 3 on my AP World test. I felt terrible about it. So whenever I feel lazy, I just remember that 3 and think to myself, “If you don’t study this sit, you’re screwed.”
It’s pretty effective.

I just remind myself, “If i don’t study, i will be a loser, and i won’t go anywhere in life” I am too harsh on myself, but whatever. It works :)

I had fun solving all those semi-interesting problems. It was like a video game to me.

I can’t get motivated by anything. When I think of colleges, I just tell myself one college is better than the other. For example, when i don’t study when I know I should, I tell myself if I don’t get the 2350, I won’t get into Harvard, but my other half is saying Fxck Harvard, Stanford is better and it isn’t covered in snow for 1/3 the year. But then I say, Stanford blows, do i really want to go to Stanford, JUST so I can work for google and make 60k a year? Later, I threaten myself by saying I’ll end up at the community college right next to the airport if I don’t study, then I tell myself if I can’t get into Wharton, I just won’t go to college and will create a start-up. The only thing I can say to myself that will actually get me to make somewhat of an effort is that if I don’t have atleast a $5 million dollar house/apartment, atleast a porche 911, weekend home at the Hamptons, a Yacht, my mom retired and out of the projects, and 10-15 million(or the equivalent due to inflation/deflation) in the bank by the time im 50, I’m failing at this game called life.

^^megafund… wow… dang …thats intense man…the GAME OF LIFE…wow

How?

No 2300+ SAT, no NYC
No NYC, I will be SAD FOREVER.
No happiness.

Okay and AP testing. It’s the thrill of going up to the person you hate the most and saying HA

I like that. I sometimes think about the SAT in this materialistic sense as well :o.

You mean NYU :p?

A higher score.

But then again it’s probably the fact that I have the responsibility as a student to do my best. :)

^Yeah, you’re right. But don’t you just feel lazy sometimes and just don’t do feel like doing it?

Good question for me .

in here the SAT is actually not required - iam international - but since 5 years ago I met an American college that is not located in the US on the web and it was amazing , since then all what i was dreaming of is graduating from that college . So in order to get into that college I really have to study hard , REALLY REALLY HARD , so that I accomplish my dream . I’m struggling with the reading portion though :(

good luck man. what college is it ?

Thnx (;

It’s Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar . I know what you will think : (( how do you go to a medical college immediatly after High School :s ?? )) , the college has an undergrad degree which is called pre-med and lasts for 2 years , and then 4 years Medical college .

And yes , it’s the an ivy league

I sware if the SAT was in my language i would have got no less than 2300 , but the thing is; it’s not

Anywayzzzz thnx again (:

Why you want to be a doctor? Be a banker or lawyer :D

Pre-med is a degree?

If you have trouble motivating yourself, go to a prep class. It will cost money but prep classes are designed, mostly-some are actually very horrible-- the one I go to is good but i just want to study by myself so in that way its bad-- to help kids with motivational issues.

Since i was a little kid all what i was dreaming is to become a doctor :)
Plus The book in my religion (( Quran )) says : (( Saving a life is as if you’ve saved humanity )) . So yeah , there is no job more noble than becoming a doctor.

And no , pre-med is not a degree . The same is almost the same as the one in the US (( just for Cornell Qatar , other medical colleges in here follow a completelly different system )) .

Being a Doctor is pretty satisfying. You’re helping the community. Good luck once again. What type of Doctor do you aspire to be?
