It is really hard for me to get focused while studying for the SAT. My mind would wander off while I'm reading a CR section and I would procrastinate on the math section. If I don't pull myself together I will be screwed. I've also tried thinking "this will help me for my future" and "I will not go to my dream school if I don't study" but it doesn't seem to work. Anyone have tips and or methods I can use to motivate myself to study?

Thanks

Think about what will happen if you don’t. Mcdonalds

^ If your scores are way below your dream school’s average, and you don’t study, you have a very slim chance.

“This will help me for my future,” I doubt it. Once you make it to college, who cares about SAT.

@rspence: The SAT is definitely a determining factor in a person’s career. The OP will surely have a better chance for the college of his/her choice if he/she does well on the SAT.

@the OP: Think of the SAT as a game. And you HAVE to win. Have a burning desire to win. This will motivate you to do well.

I know how you feel. I am currently studying. If you have 2 months, like I do, just take it little by little. I find it difficult to do more than 1 hour of math so I just do what I can and build up to more time and material. Don’t think of it as a chore, just think of it as a routine. The pressure wont get you the score you want. Just study and relax and tell your self you are ready for this exam. If you don’t do well, you can always retake it.

@moose97 true, it does affect college chances and may eventually affect career opportunities, but once you’re accepted to college, what would the SAT be used for?

I’m not saying that the SAT is directly useful after college. All I’m saying is that it will indirectly alter the course of one’s life. Surely, going to a good university will make a difference. The SAT is one of the obstacles needed to get there.

@moose97 In a way it very much is like a game. You have to compete with other students/players to try to earn the highest score and the winner/high scorers tend unlock more opportunities such as new levels/top prestigious colleges.

Just clear your mind, take a bath, go for a walk, listen to your favorite music, watch an inspirational anime fight. Give yourself time to think to yourself. Try and attain that feeling that nothings going to stop you and that you’re just going to do whatever you want to do. Why not study for the SAT if you can? Why not try your best? If you try your hardest for your SAT you’ll probably try harder in other things too. Don’t you want to be the best you can be?

I just switch to robot mode and grind it out.

oh more question: how do I improve my writing score?

I meant reading score ^
