I'm thinking about starting a Chinese club in my school. Our school started offering Chinese two years ago. There is no Chinese club. I'm not taking Chinese but I have strong chinese connections from my family and I speak decent Chinese. I'm just wondering what I should do to start the club? Please share your experience, including starting a club and club activities. I'll really appreciate it.

I know just to start, you’ll probably need a few friends who are willing to join and probably a teacher to oversee the club. Then go see your guidence counselor and ask them about it. Good luck with it!

You’d probably need to ask for a sponsor teacher and write a proposal before approaching administration. You can find sample club proposals by googling.

Oh thank you guys so much! These are very good suggestions.

I recently founded a club at my school. Here were the steps I took:

**1. I thought of the idea

2. I recruited 8+ members
[I went to principal and asked how many people I needed. This may be different for you]

3. I recruited a teacher
[Getting a teacher/advisor and a room is an important step]

4. I wrote a formal proposal, about 4 pages.
[1st Page= Title Page with sample logo, advisor/teacher, room number and meeting date]
[2nd Page= What the club was and its objective/why it was needed]
[3rd Page=Who were the prospective members]**

Hope you like the color coding and such, it took a while to do

Apollo OMG I love it! Thank you so much! omg again I LOVE IT!

It’s different from school to school. My school has an activities director, who we ask. She asks for proof of possible activities, and students that want to sign up, plus what advantage does it have, and a sponsor. Then, she takes it to the principal.

Thank you wigglechoo. I’ll talk to the principal soon.
