...Brown, Wesleyan, and Vassar? That is, highly selective, not huge but not TOO small either (at least 2500 students), very liberal atmosphere, fun, and attracts sort of more artsy people?

Oberlin…

University of Chicago, Yale.

Look at Colgate.

^LOL at Colgate.

Try the Ob-ster, Kenyon, Columbia, and Barnard (if you a girl). Kalamazoo would make an awesome safety, along with Evergreen State, New College of FL, or Knox, and McGill might be worth looking into, as well, but it definitely doesn’t fit your size requirement.

Brown, Wesleyan, and Vassar were three of my favorite schools when I was applying (I’m at Wes now). I also liked Pomona – the school itself is smaller, but the consortium makes up for that, IMO. I also agree with Oberlin, though it’s probably a tad less reachy than Wes and Vassar, and much less reachy than Brown.

I also agree with Barnard. Columbia and Yale are the two Ivies other than Brown that Wes students seemed the most interested in, though you’d have to see if you liked Columbia’s core.

I kind of disagree with UChicago. While it has the intellectual-geeky-love-their-work vibe in common with these schools, from talking to several people there, I don’t think it has the very liberal and artsy atmosphere the OP seems to like about Brown, Wes and Vassar. I also think Colgate is the wrong kind of atmosphere.

I also really loved Carleton, though it is smaller than you want, OP.

Thanks for the suggestions!

And yeah, actually size isn’t really that important, it’s the last factor I’d look at. So scratch that requirement
