<p>@Rishav: Amherst, Williams, Swarthmore and Pomona are all equally difficult or perhaps even more difficult to get into than UCB, Cornell, Duke and Penn. Also, the recent trend is that UCB is becoming less selective while admitting international students due to the tragic budget cuts. Even though UCB may be prestigious and reputed worldwide, the quality of undergraduate education there is now a notch lower than the other top private colleges with class sizes getting larger and more TA’s teaching undergrad classes in place of professors. This situation is also taking students a longer time to graduate from UCB.</p>
<p>Also, GPA/Test scores of students attending Vanderbilt are comparable to those attending Cornell,Penn and Brown. Vanderbilt is one of those universities that is quickly gaining national reputation and prestige putting it’s undergrad program at power with some one the top 15 colleges. (US news)</p>
