What qualifications come with a PharmD?

What qualifications (masters, bachelor of science, etc.) come with completing the PharmD program?

SITUATION: I'm in Pharmacy, but I'm not entirely sure if I really want to be a pharmacist for the rest of my career. However, since I'm already in the school and job security for pharmacy is pretty good, my parents are encouraging me to finish it even if I don't necessarily plan to be a pharmacist (a back up, basically). But what I really want to be is a high school teacher. I'm looking for potential overlaps between teacher education requirements and pharmacy - I'm planning to teach science, so if Pharmacy qualifies for anything...? - and if so, I wouldn't mind finishing PharmD if it's only a few years more than a traditional teacher's pathway. If not, though, I want to transfer out after this semester.

OTHER QUESTIONS:
-What education requirements are required to be a secondary school teacher? (I'm trying to search online, but the answers I'm getting seem inconsistent - some tell me I just need a BA/BS, some tell me I should major in education, some say I should do both - and I'm not exactly sure what a teacher education program is!)
-How much trouble is it to switch schools between first and second semester?
-Which department should I ask these questions to in Rutgers?

I am a pharmacist, but not a PharmD. I went to Rutgers. My first thought when reading your question is, if you don’t really want to be a pharmacist, there is no way I would tell you to just do it for job security. It is a long (6 years for PharmD) and difficult pathway to take if you really want to be a teacher.

Are you currently a freshman pharmacy student? I would talk to your advisor at the school, and then ask who you would talk to about your other career options. I know there is a Graduate School of Education at Rutgers, but I don’t know anything about it.

Good luck!
