I am a high school junior. I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA and im taking 5 AP classes at the moment. What scores do you think would get ME into west point? I already took the SAT once and I got a 720 Math, 560 CR, and I just took the SAT again this saturday.

Well, using the old SAT system of 1600 being perfect, here in Georgia the score of 1330 was the minimum two years ago for one Congressman’s applicants. It was solely based upon who had applied that year. It will vary, but in that range or higher is still probably something good to bandy about in discussions. You’re not too far off and you have a good, strong math score, which will be of more importance.

Improving your SAT verbal score will be very helpful. The math score is great. Keep in mind that Admissions will review multiple components of your application. Your gpa is great. Admissions will also look at your participation in sports, and your leadership experience.

Keep up the good work. If your CR score hasn’t improved enough to satisfy you, take it again and prep like crazy for that section.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Assuming you qualify physically and have reasonable leadership qualities, a 1400 or better combined verbal and math score has historically been good enough not only for an appointment but for a letter of admission (kind of like an early admissions letter) to USMA.

Good luck and thanks for considering a career of service to our great country.

Thanks for all the answers. Im getting my scores back on thursday. hopefully i really improved in the CR. as for leadership experience i am an officer in a few clubs and i will be captain of my schools varsity tennis team as well. For the athletics, I have tennis which I may be able to get recruited for depending on how much I play this year

Also I got my SAT scores back and I got a 750 Math and a 630 CR.
I plan on taking it one more time probably in march and i am trying to bring the reading up to a 700.

Hi there, I am a proud parent of a junior in high school whose dream is to get into West Point! I want to get him some hiking boots for Christmas because he wants to prepare in every way possible once he is accepted and wants to start hiking now and said he is allowed to bring his own hiking boots so I want to get what is allowed of course, what is most comfortable for the long hikes, and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
