I come from a school with a non-standard curriculum. A lot of the stuff that is taught in say a standard APUSH or USH course is simply missing from my school's curriculum. As a result, I feel that a lot of the material on the SAT Subject Tests is not exactly material I have had prior exposure to. I took French because I had studied it for 5 years, but to my surprise, the test was extremely difficult and I ended up with a 560 on it. I straight up didn't learn a lot of the grammar/vocab. I am currently looking at some top schools -

EA:
UChicago
Georgetown SFS

RD:
If denied from Georgetown SFS or UChicago EA:
Tufts
George Washington
American
Dartmouth
Brown
Princeton
Harvard
(If deferred from either school, will reapply, if accepted to either school EA, just applying to Harvard and Princeton)

I am hoping to go into International Relations with a focus on Science and Technology Issues related to Russia. I was thinking about doing Math 2, Bio and Chem as I have a good amount of experience with those subjects (1&1/2 years of Chem, 2 years of Bio, 5 on AP BC) I figured Literature might be easy to study for, although I was not entirely sure. Are there any tests which are incredibly easy to study for? I figure these tests would also be good to take as a good score might counteract my B's which I received in only science and math classes.

Please let me know what you think and I will answer any questions you may have. Thanks!

hi-i want to apply for pre-med and am going to take SAT II this november. I’ve just started my A2 exams (edexcel, british curriculum)-so that’s basically grade 12. i’m a bit confused on which subjects to choose-i like math 2, but amidst chem, bio and phys-which 2 do you think are the best ideas-for a pre-med applicant? i haven’t done much math in my A levels, since i have only c12, c34, s1 and m1 as my math units in A levels-but i think math 2 is the better of the math subjects. Ideas please? I need help-IT’S URGENT!

Definitely take Math 2 and probably Chem, because it’s generally a much easier test than Bio in terms of scores. Both are relatively easy to study for. I would be careful about literature though - you can’t really “study” for it, as a lot of it is mostly innate ability, but practice does help. Check your scores on practice tests before making a final decision.

@Ilma321, please make your own thread for a separate question.

Hi Frenholfer!
Good Subject tests are nice, but I wouldn’t count on them too much nor put too much time into them. There are two reasons:
- Subject tests won’t get you flat out rejected. It’s the icing on the cake. But, great scores can give you a push over applicants who don’t have as good scores.

Studying for them can take a lot of time, and there are so many more important things to do than the Subject Tests.

I would buy the Official College Board SAT Subject Test book and try out some questions. Find what subjects you think you would do the best on. For example, although I’m Caucasian, I was at the top of my Chinese classes, and thus took the Chinese test and got a 780.

If you still can’t decide, I would take Math 2 and a science because you’re focusing on Science and Technologies, which require a profound knowledge of math and science.

Hope this helps!
