just curious, what schools did everyone turn down to come to syracuse...

I chose SU (honors, 11k) over University of Michigan (Residential college, $21k), Boston University (31k haha because I submitted my finaid stuff late everywhere except UMich!), University of California San Diego (8k), and the lower UCs (that means all the other UCs except UCB and UCLA).

University of Delaware, Michigan State University, Penn State University-University Park, University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Johnson & Wales University

university of georgia

George Washington U, Trinity College, Northeastern, SUNY albany, stony brook, susquehanna.

Northeastern, Stony Brook (everything else wait-listed/ rejected from NYU and Colgate)

Orange_010 - what were your reasons for choosing over GW and Trinity? Those are pretty tough schools to be accepted into.

chose SU(architecture, 12k) over CMU(art+design), arch->UIUC, UIC, SUNY Buffalo, Pratt, Univ. of Virginia(waitlisted), Univ. of Michigan(waitlisted).

PaperSignals: Well there were a bunch of reasons I chose Syracuse over GW and Trinity College. Besides just liking Syracuse's atmosphere, the divy 1 sports (Go orange!), and other stuff Syracuse actually presented a similar academic experience.
GW's arts and sciences program is not considered to be on par with the other schools that seem to have earned a respectable reputation. Asking around I found out that generally students that were in CAS found it to have lackluster professors and older buildings then what should be expected. There was also the fact that it was in the city that turned me off a bit. Not to mention the 54k tution...
Trinity College is a small, LAC school; quite different from Syracuse. In all honesty I just wasn't feeling the vibe a small school like that had. Their campus was dead D-E-A-D. They also didn't have the facilities SU had; labs and such.
I guess choosing SU over GW or Trinity may be a suprise, but if you take the time to weigh the pros and cons SU is a decent choice. Hope that answers your questions Paper.

lol @ D-E-A-D

I turned down U. of Delaware, PSU-University Park, SUNY at Albany, Ithaca College, LeMoyne College and SUNY at Cortland

Syracuse (Newhouse, Honors, 8k) over Lehigh (rodale scholarship, internship, and scholars program), Mizzou (Journalism Scholars, 5,500), NYU (CAS journalism), Miami (50% scholarship, journalism). Emory waitlisted me. applied to Northwestern (Medill) ED...and well...they don't defer, so you can guess the rest (they say I'm not balanced enough, and that makes sense. I have some journalism credentials, but I'm not a great math/ science student) .

i chose syracuse over villanova university, saint joseph's university, fairfield university, loyola college of maryland, and providence college...i cant wait to find out that i most definitely made the right choice!

we all have to find SOME WAY to meet up. hey..move in day is august 24th. around july whoever gets their room plan first will make a thread and well all post ours (if u want to) and we can find somewhere to meet up on campus.

Great idea! facebook can help too (I'm such an addict)

lol. whats your name on facebook. how can u get addicted to it. threres nothing to do.

Wow ThreeKidsKid, SU over NYU? Was it really expensive? :\ (And yay I'll be in newhouse too, plus LSA. :D But well I'm actually thinking of transfering out of newhouse since it might make it hard for me to take clases at the college of art/design, i heard. :S)

I haven't made a facebook yet. Guess I should get a move on.

Oh apparantly I need a college email...

Actually, Faleene, believe it or not I simply stopped liking NYU. It was a close second w/ Northwestern for a while, and then I was in NYC in the fall on a school trip, eating dinner w/ some of my friends who are freshman there and it started falling in my regard. Can't quite explain it, just knew it wasn't for me anymore. Either way, my dad's still trying to convince me to do NYU undergrad so I'll have a better shot at NYU law. Guess he missed the memo about me going to Syracuse...and wanting to be a journalist.

And my facebook is still my high school one (I'll post the college one when I can get it). Melo I'd say over half my school is completly addicted (they actually had to block it from our network), but ur right...what are we doing all that time? I guess we just update a lot. Oh and we post a lotta photos.

ha. whats your name on facebook? are u the one with the burgundy shirt???
