I have fallen in love with Groton but understand getting in for 9th grade is quite difficult. Here’s what I like about Groton: (1) small size, emphasis on community, kindness, and some spirituality, (2) a rigorous, traditional liberal arts curriculum (Latin, etc.), and (3) ethnic and economic diversity (less of a “rich white kid” feel). What other boarding schools are most like this?

Middlesex has strong academics, great humanities and English, small-size, even an architecturally similar campus. Slightly less so than Groton, but still diverse. St. Mark’s also worth considering in this context, and SPS too.
Thank you! I have been looking at Middlesex and SPS as well. I have noticed that these schools have recently announced a bunch of changes to improve diversity and inclusion while Groton’s main response seems to be they just need to keep doing what they have been doing.
St. Andrews in Delaware. Thacher in CA. Middlesex
