What schools can i get into with a 3.1 gpa and 20 act?

I have a few schools in mind, but im not sure if i would even get accepted. Any suggestions?

What schools do you have in mind? Are any of your choices public in your state?

Go to the Supermatch feature on the left side of the screen. Enter your gpa and act scores there and you’ll find schools that meet your criteria.

Agree with trying Supermatch feature on CC. You might also want to consider some test-optional schools. And the Colleges that Change Lives list has a some very good but not hyper-competitive ompetitive LACs.

Im from Illinois and i was thinking about siue because tuition isnt too bad, however my act is pretty low so that makes me nervous

Have you considered retaking the ACT in an effort to bump it maybe just a little? Even a 22 would give some more options. You could apple to Western Illinois, Northern Illinois, Eastern Illinois and you have a chance at acceptances from there. Are you willing to go OOS? You might want to look into Eastern Kentucky, Bowling Green State in Michigan, Grand View University, UW-Parkside, Shawnee State in Ohio.

It definitely doesn’t hurt to apply.

How much will your parents pay each year? That answer will likely determine where you should apply.

Do you live close enough to SIUE to commute? If not, then the cost would be at least $25k per year. Will your parents pay that much? If not, then you need to find cheaper schools.

@Badgers21 Bowling Green State is in Ohio.

@Flowerrrrchild , try SIU-Carbondale, too.

Badgers21 gave good suggestions.

Your options might well depend upon your intended major.

STEM schools such as South Dakota School of Mines, Louisiana Tech or Tennessee Tech might give you a look, and they all have relatively low out-of-state tuition. Illinois State could be your best in-state public option. Some privates may give you a fair shake in the application review but you would need to write a super essay (if one is required) to win admission. What’s your intended major and how is your high school math preparation?

The best in-state option depends on the major. IL State does not have Engineering for instance, I don’t believe. It’s good for education majors, business, nursing and humanities.

SIU-E (also has nursing) and SIU-C have Engineering and I think Western IL does, too.

Eastern IL is primarily a liberal arts university.

I’m not expert on any of those schools, but I have a kid with lopsided stats, :), and we’ve done a lot of research into all of the IL schools.

If OP wants a small private school for liberal arts and science, consider: Monmouth College, Blackburn, Illinois College, Elmhurst College, Dominican University, North Central College.

Knox and Augustana may even be options… ACT is optional at these two.

All of these small colleges will be more expensive, though.

OP may also want to look at the UW schools, like UW-OshKosh, UW- Milwaukee, etc. Tuition is cheaper at these for IL residents, just a little more than in-state rates.

OP might consider Indiana State as well, in Terre Haute IN. Terre Haute is not all that, but the campus itself is very nice, tuition is very affordable for IL residents, and the immediate neighborhood in downtown Terre Haute where the college is, is pretty nice with lots of restaurants, cafes, a night club, etc.

My D stayed there for a week, in the dorms, for a band camp recently, she said the dorms are very nice, too.

And they have Engineering, Nursing, as well as a good variety of LAS majors.

I posted about 40 universities where you have a shot on your other thread. Run the NPC on them, then check them out.

Thank you all so much!
