In response to the other thread, how about the other way around? I said no to Washu after visiting and loving duke.

I turned down Georgetown and McGill Faculty of Management (Canada).

Cornell, U of Chicago, Northwestern, UC Berkeley, UCLA, U of Michigan (Honors Program), and LSE in UK... majoring in Economics =)

georgetown and unc-chapel hill

UConn, Tufts, Wheaton (IL), Penn, Lehigh

Johns Hopkins University, UCLA, UCB, USC

Wasnt a tough choice.

Ohio State, NEOUCOM, UMich, UChicago, JHU, WashU, U of Wash, UMaryland, Vanderbilt, and Case Western.

Dartmouth, Columbia (John Jay Scholar), Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt, Rice, UM, UF

^fast 27, out of curiosity, what made you turn those schools down even with the f.a. discrepancy? (I just saw your other post)

Well for me it was : UChicago, Northwestern (MMSS),Emory, McGill (Desautels), Boston University(SMG), Clemson.

fast27,what made u choose duke over dart?

Everyone should choose Duke over Dartmouth because Hanover is the most boring, isolated college town in existence and you will never have an opportunity to wear shorts.

Georgetown - McDonough Business
Boston College - Business, Honors
UPenn - Wharton
Texas Christian - Full Scholarship

Vanderbilt, Penn, UCLA, USC, UCSD regents, Pepperdine half scholarship, Notre Dame

Cornell, Rice, WashU, Tufts, Carnegie Mellon

Northwestern, Johns Hopkins Engineering, University of Maryland, University of Virginia

Cornell, Northwestern, Emory, Vanderbilt, Carnegie Mellon, Georgia Tech (Honors), Clemson (Full Ride + Honors)... waitlisted at JHU BME (i would never pick hopkins over duke though)

it was between clemson and duke in the end....

Cornell, Northwestern, U of M Honors (in state)

hmmm well, for me, it came down to duke, dartmouth or columbia.

I ruled out columbia because i wanted a more "homey" campus feel and more trees. Plus the dorms sucked (i'm a spoiled mama's boy) and the kids were a bit socially awkward (i'm also a wild party boy).

I was steadfast for dartmouth until 10:30 pm on the night b4 decisions, and i picked duke over dartmouth b/c of a few reasons:

(1) they are remarkably similar schools (both party, both strong academically, both undergrad focused, both are in the woods and beautiful, both have great alumni relations [#2 and #3 in USA, respectively] and both have great study abroad). and

(2) given that these two schools are so similar, i picked duke because (a) its warmer and i am a Miami Boy (b) fine southern chicks, (c) less isolated; a city at least nearby, (d) the semester system gives you a little more breathing room than does the D-Plan (e) more varied social life b/c of sports, city nearby, more diverse campus. I was worried about the combination of cold, isolation, and repetitive social life at dartmouth.

So I figured it was worth an extra $40 G's to have my education at Duke instead.

(altough I will soon be $200 G's in debt...)

Well I'm still deciding whether or not to attend Duke (I enrolled at Hopkins but I got into Duke from the waitlist), but if I do go to Duke I'll have turned down Hopkins, UPenn, Wash U, Vanderbilt, Pomona and Wake Forest.

Northwestern, Johns Hopkins BME, Purdue, Case Western
