What schools particularly value the IB diploma and the rigor of the Ib curriculum?

We are learning some schools truly value the IB student and the value of a student who has tackled and been successful with the IB coursework, what schools are particularly known to value IB students?

That’s like asking which schools value high GPAs.

Any school will value an IB curriculum. IB isn’t new to colleges.

Although some people buy into that they’re a golden ticket. One particularly strong IB HS in my area told their students to highlight IB in the college interviews. I noted this in 2-3 that I had interviewed. Later that year, at the admitted students reception, I was casually chatting w/some other alumni interviewers. The topic of this IB school came up and we were all annoyed at how the students were trying to “educate” us on IB.

I contacted the lead counselor there and told them to cut it out – it was condescending.

I do think students are often advised not all schools/admissions officers understand the IB curriculum and its rigor --so no surprise kids are trying to inform them when they have a chance–not an attempt to be condescending.

No illusions here about the golden ticket!!

We have heard some students got almost 1 1/2 year college credit for the diploma work while others barely got their work recognized with merit money or credit… which is why we are asking the question if some schools are known to appreciate and reward IB more than others.

Maybe this is a good place to start?

That might have to do with varying degrees of rigor and selectivity at different colleges than an indication of whether a college “values” IB. A college might recognize the rigor of an IB curriculum but not give much credit for it, just like they don’t give much credit for AP or other type things. Some colleges require a high minimum number of course credits be completed on campus. In terms of valuing for acceptance, some colleges have an overall high caliber of students apply so may not see an IB student as “above and beyond” their typical candidate.

So, I guess it depends on what you are looking to get out of it - college credits, a bump in admissions, something else?
