what science classes do people take at their school

at my school
9th H Bio
10th H Chem
11th AP Physics
12th AP Chem and AP Bio

9th Bio H - decent teacher
10th Chem H - doesnt teach sh-t
11th Physics H - crappy IB program doesn't let you take physics AP
12th Physics AP

that's my plan

most people have the same 9th and 10th as me, but they take the Physiology (sp?) --> AP Biology route instead

ur school is going to do the same thing mine is doing now you must take H physics first before AP because so many kids were complaining about their grades

In the special gifted program I'm in:

9th: MSC Chemistry
10th: MSC Physics (full year); MSC Biology (second semester only)
11th: MSC AP Biology (really just a continuation of last semester)
12th: MSC AP Chemistry; MSC AP Physics C (both full year)

Physiology sucks....

9th: Biology
10th: Chemistry
11th: Physics
12th: AP Biology

Everyone takes three sciences in 9th grade, two in 10th, and one or two in 11th/12th. The exact distribution varies from person to person, but here's mine.

9th: Biology, Chemistry, Physics (supposedly equivalent to honors classes)
10th: Chemistry, Physics (continuation of above)
11th/12th: IB Chemistry HL, IB Biology SL

cameliasinensis where in the world do you go to school?

some rich magnet school?

I go to an international private school in DC. We have a lot of graduation requirements. Copied from my school profile:

9th grade
English
2nd language
3rd language (optional)
Math
Geography
History
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
Choice of two: Art/Music/Drama/Journalism
Physical Education

10th grade
English
2nd language
3rd language (optional)
Math
Geography (optional)
History
Choice of two: Biology/Physics/Chemistry
Choice of two: Art/Music/Drama/Journalism

11th/12th grade (IB Diploma)
3 IB Higher Levels
3 IB Standard Levels
i*
Theory of Knowledge
Choice of one: Art/Music/Drama/Journalism

I definitely thought it was a pain in the ass in the lower grades, but in retrospect I'm really grateful. I wouldn't have chosen to take all those science classes my freshman year of high school, but then I realized I wanted to be a science major... it's a huge relief that I don't have to worry about being inadequately prepared for college-level science classes because I made some stupid choices when I was 12.

9th: physical science
10th: biology
11th: APES
12TH: NONE OR AP PHYSICS

ME:
9THl PHYSICAL SCIENCE (SUMMERBIO)
10TH H Chem
11th APPHYSICS/APBIO/APES
12TH !?!!1?!!?!!?!/!/!

9th: Biology (No Honors Offered)
10th: Chemistry Honors
11th: Physics Honors
12th: AP Physics (Calc-Based)

9th grade - physics
10th grade - chemistry
11lth grade - first year biology HL, chemistry HL or SL, or physics HL or SL
12th grade - second year biology HL, chemistry HL or SL, or physics HL or Sl

The chemistry and physics classes at a higher level are not offered in the same year, so you would take either chemistry HL one year and physics HL the other year.

9th-Honors Bio (harder than AP, since we cover half of the college material)
10th-AP bio (fun), Honors Chem (joke)
11th- AP chem (supposedly toughest), honors physics
12th- AP physics B, AP enviro optional

If you double up at my school, you'll probably end up choosing science courses.

normal:
9 - Intro to physics/chemistry
10 - bio
11 - chem
12 - physics

me:
9 - Intro to physics/chem H
10 - bio H
11 - chem H/phys H
12 - AP: bio,chem,phys C

normal:
9: biology
10: chem
11: physics or physiology or environmental
12: see above

me:
9: bio H
10: chem H
11: Ap chem/ physics H/ AP bio (indep.)
12: AP physics C

Normal people take:
9th - Earth Science Regents
10th - Living Environment Regents
11th - Chemistry Regents
12th - Physics Regents

Smart People take:
8th - Earth Science
9th - Honors Bio
10th - AP Physics B + Chemistry Regents (stupid lack of honors chem class)
11th - AP Chemistry + AP Physics C (Mech + E&M)
12th - AP Bio

I wish there was an AP Physics D :/

i am taking...
9th - honors physical science
10th - honors biology
11th - ap biology
12th - havent decided, i was thinking about ap chem but i havent taken any chemistry before, so i dont know

lol i take a lot of science classes...

9th- H Physical Science

10th- H Chem and H Bio

11th- AP Bio and Advanced Sci Research (i do astrophysics cause im cool)

12th- AP Phys C Mechanics and ASR again

what ive taken...

9th - honors physics
summer - regular chemistry
10th - honors biology and chemistry AP
11th- biology AP
12th - physics C AP

im a big science nerd and really wanted to take the AP for each of the major sciences...and also FYI, this is far from typical at my school

pretty much everyone takes an AP science class

9 - Physics
10 - Chemistry, Biology
11 - AP Physics C, AP Chemistry
12 - AP Biology

Having to take the honors-level course before the AP-level course really sucks.
