What Sciences to Take?

I go to a really good private school and am a sophomore who took advanced honors biology last year and advanced honors chem this year. I have the option to take AP physics next year but it’s a very difficult class/something I’m not interested in, and I am pursuing business/finance degrees in college. I will be in at least 4 other AP’s next year. do i need to take physics, or can I take another science such as advanced honors anatomy/physiology and not worry about not having the right science? I know many colleges say they want 3-4 “laboratory” sciences, but are bio, chem, and physics the only laboratory sciences or do others such as anatomy count too?

AP Physics, from what I heard is a difficult and time consuming class, so if you have no interest then forcing yourself to take it might be harmful in the long run. In your situation I wouldn’t take it unless it was absolutely necessary.

What is advanced honors???

Is it AP physics 1? If that is a one year class I am not sure it is considered a horrible hard class? My soph did it last year and my jr does it this year with As. Don;t even think about the test score. . I think you will find that physics is sympatico with the financial types. I assume then you just have standard or AP physics, nothing in between??

Other sciences “count” as lab sciences, however, most top colleges recommend a year each of bio/chem/physics. While you do not need to take AP Physics, I would recommend that you take some level of physics.

our school has a phasing system for classes:
phase 2 - college prep with some extra help
phase 3 - standard colleg prep
phase 4 - accelerated (honors)
phase 5 - highest level, most accelerated (all AP’s are phase 5 but there are many phase 5’s that aren’t AP’s – these are considered “advanced honors”)

I took phase 5 bio and am currently in phase 5 chemistry
they offer a phase 3 physics, phase 4 physics, and AP physics (phase 5)

Yes you should take physics, but it can be 'regular '. Take any other science senior year (could be apes, anatomy, marine science…)

There are two AP physics classes : AP physics 1 which is algebra based and the same level as honors physics, just more in depth. And AP physics C, which is calculus asked the second level in the sequence, and really hardcore.
So, you cou’d take AP physics 1 instead of regular or honors physics, but you certainly shouldn’t take physics c.

With your courseload, I would advise against it. I took it last year and felt like I knew nothing, though I did very well in the class. I hated it.
