So, I'm up for the PSAT soon, and I'm wondering what sort of scores you need for commended scholar. Is it based on your state like the ranks above it or is it national?

It is national. This year the cut-off was 200, so next year it will probably be 201-202.

Bah... You know I got a 196? :[

Well, that's a relief.

If it's low 200s, that is.

Thanks!

Sorry for posting this question on your thread ^_^;...I was thinking that it would be related to something like this, and I don't want to spam the forum by posting a thread with a simple question.

Okay, what scores in M, CR, and W do you need to get on the SAT in order to get a scholarship?

do you write commended national merit scholar on college apps?

Oh, yeah. It should go straight on your app, or brag sheet or whatever.

GM, what type of scholarship? National Merit? There's an application process for NM Finalist that requires a score confirming the ability shown on the PSAT but it's not a certain score in each area.

when do you receive the notice that you are a Commended Student?

Carpe--Why do you think the cut-off will be a little higher next year for commended? Is there reason to think that this year's PSAT will be easier than last year's? Just curious, I got a 203 as a sophomore and need at least a 208 this year to qualify for Semi-finalist, thanks!

lol I got a 199. It pretty much sucked...

commended/semifinalists get a letter in may or june (dont remember) about some service the college board has to send psat scores to any 2 colleges you want, and i got my commended stuff a few weeks ago
