What Should I be doing?

I am a junior looking at West Point and I'm not sure exactly where I should start with the application process.

I submitted my name into the Student Archive as suggested, but received back a pamphlet that basically said, your too young to do anything, check back in a few months.

So I realize they are basically right, but I was still wondering what the process should be for applying (IK they have a large list ohow to apply on their website) What I am looking for is more of a straight forward list on what I should start doing and when to improve my chances of admission. Also, If anyone has any experience with congressional recommendations, I would be happy to hear. I'm really confused, like I am hearing all ab out interviews and everything but on all of my representatives websites it just talks about asking them for an application and submitting a form. Should I be doing something else? Also, I am interested in running cross country/track at West Point and I'm good enough to run for the team, but not good enough for the coach to really want me; should I still contact the coach to improve my chances of admission?

This site gives you much of what you need to know at this stage:
[USMA Admissions: Start Young](http://admissions.usma.edu/startyoung.cfm)

Look out for the application for the summer seminar link to open around mid December. I encourage you to apply. This will also open a file for you at West Point. The second step of the application only comes out around August of your senior year.

You do not need to worry about nominations until the end of your Junior year. Each congressman/senator has his/her own procedure on their website. You fill out an application packet and may be invited for an interview - it varies.

You can contact the coach but unless you are recruited this in itself will not improve your chances of admission.

Good luck!
