Ok. I am currently an 11th grader and just took the SATs.

I took them twice already. The First Time I got 1930. And the Second Time I got 2240.

My Question is, Should I re-take the SATs once more in October? (because i am taking SAT IIs in June)

Should I use up the summer to study for SATs (again) and try to improve my score, especially my critical reading? Do colleges really care that much about it?

Or should I use up the time to fill out and improve early action applications?

Please help. Thanks in advance

After you receive your SAT II scores in June, you should then re-consider whether or not you prefer to take those instead of the SAT. A 2240 is an excellent score; however, if you would like to improve upon your critical reading score, it would not be unreasonable to dedicate yourself to studying regularly this summer. Certain schools, like Georgetown and CUNY’s Macaulay Honors Program, do not consider your writing score, so your critical reading score would be far more important in such a case.

However, if you are planning to apply to any institutions through early action programs, spend time in August preparing for those applications. Generally, most are not released before then, so that leaves you with a nice chunk of time to diligently study for your SAT exams.

Essay writing is something that can be spread over a significant portion of time; I myself do not enjoy writing pieces over long periods, as my writing style and tone vary from day to day and impact the coherence of assignments I work on for extended periods of time. My essays were written in 10 hours, all in one sitting.
