690 cr

My scores from the January SAT were:
CR 690
Math 770
Writing 800

That's a 2260, but I'm a little put off by my CR score. My problem is that I have four subject tests to take by the end of junior year, so I can't take the SATs again in May or June. I would've done March but I missed the registration.

I'm applying to colleges like Stanford, UPENN, Harvard, Cornell, Princeton, etc (top choices). I'm currently ranked 5/344 in my class and by the end of senior year I will have taken a total of 6 or 7 AP classes.
I'm also Asian-American; I'm not sure if that would make a difference.
When I was looking at the average SAT scores for freshmen at these schools, I was upset to see that I wasn't in the range for their CR scores, so that's why I'm reconsidering.

Anyway, a few questions:
Should I retake the SATs to get a better reading score?
If I get worse scores on math/writing, will that reflect badly on me?
If I take the SATs in October, will it be too late to send those scores to early decision/action schools?

Thank you so much!

Most schools superscore now. I’d take it again in October if you really are shooting for those superselective schools. If you missed any sentcom, you should really lock down your vocab–no reason to miss those.

It’s not too late for all the early action/early decision colleges with which I’m familiar – e.g. the Ivies, Stanford, Georgetown, etc.

For those schools, you should definitely retake it. October is not too late and you should have November as well at least for regular decision. Most students do a lot better a second or third time around. Just practice and memorize vocabulary.

Use the opportunity to try and get a perfect math score as well. Judging from previous scales, a 770 means you likely only got 1-2 wrong.

You should retake, I’m sure you will show improvement. The same thing happened to my daughter.

Thank you for the feedback!
