What should i do about the gay thing

So I’m a white, male, high school junior from Denver, Colorado and I plan on applying to Brown next fall. And was wondering if I should bring up me being gay in the application or just let my academics and extra curriculars speak for themselves. I honestly feel that a school like Brown would welcome this diversity but I’d like some input. Should I mention it or not? Here’s my stats:

-4.2 (weighted), 3.967 (unweighted)
-ranked #4 at Colorado’s top public school
-will have completed seven AP courses by graduation (I got a 5 on Chem, currently enrolled in three, will take three next year)
-ACT score of 32 but retook and hoping for 33 (I’m taking SAT tomorrow)
-class president for three years and hopefully next year
-NHS
-Spanish Honor Society Officer
-2 years varsity tennis
-2 years varsity cross country
-Red Cross Officer
-tons of work experience
-two internships (medical + business)
-tutoring
-teach tennis lessons to underprivileged children
-volunteer with Colorado AIDS Project

Other things:
-I serve on the district student gov and help plan out the district calendar as well as work with student faculty-relations (i worked with district counselors to reconstruct the counseling departments at two high schools). we also do charity projects
-I single handedly created an annual dance in which all profits go to charity
-I build houses for the poor annually in mexico

Any comments or suggestions would be great! Thanks

Unless it fits nicely into an essay topic, I wouldn't go out of your way to put it....as far as I know your sexual preference isn't a category that they try to fill in admissions "categories".... Your stats and ECs sound terrific. Good luck to you!

xFire2008x: I second exactly what astrophysicsmom said to a t. One thing is clear: based on the data I see, you seem very well-adjusted and unlike some people, to have taken being gay in stride (I had classmates who went through different levels of torturing themselves during adolescence and the transition from "undeclared" to "happily acknowledging," from not at all to completely bonkers). I assume you are out at school. Given that you're this well adjusted, I would let your situation speak for itself and if it comes up naturally in an essay, fine.

The one thing I will say, if your coming of age and coming out (assuming you're out) was a process of tremendous growth through which you came to know yourself in a much more elaborated way, you might not want to pass it up as something to mention in terms of expressing your uniqueness to the college. Yes, it's not a selected category, but what is selected for is someone who is mature as well as accomplished. Write the essays early and have people do a reality check for you by reading them.

Write about what defines yourself. If you feel that does, by all means write about it :)
