Right now im doing an MA/BA in economics and math. Meaning when i graduate i will have 2 bachelors in math and economics and one master in economics. I'm already taking two computer science courses for my math major. I would only need four more courses to get a CS minor. Should I take the four courses in the summer of junior year, or forget about the minor and focus on getting an internship for my junior year? (btw the summer of my sophmore year is already filled with courses)

At this point I would prepare for an intra-year internship during your junior year and a summer internship for next summer.

Most people get into an internship junior year, and if everything works out, a permanent analyst position is offered upon graduation. It takes a lot of stress out of senior year. Banks fill their analyst class from their summer internship pool. It is more important for you to get an internship than a degree in CS if you want to go into IB.

Thanks, yeah ill forget the cs minor, and yeah i cant do an intra year internship since all my upcoming semesters are filled with math and econ classes that i need to get both degrees.

Definitely internship - minor won’t help for IB - the internship, however, definitely can

PM me if you have other questions.

IBanker

If you can get an internship, forget about the summer courses or minors. Internships are better experience and can land you a job upon graduation.

To echo what has been said, no coursework could come close to outweighing a relevant internship. CS is irrelevant for IB.
