What should I do in this situation?

Her everyone, I need some advice on how to handle something. One of the schools that I really like won't notify me about whether or not I got into their honors program until March 1. Unfortunately, two other universities that I applied to have emailed me saying that I have to commit this month if I intend to go to either of them with scholarship funds. I like the first school more, but if I don't get into their honors program then I'd rather go to one of the others where I am in their honors program. Should I email the first school about sending me an answer early? If anyone could give some advice, I'd be so thankful.

Anyone…

Are you sure they can even do that? I was pretty sure the universal day you need to submit the deposit by was May 1st. I’ve never heard of a college saying you have to enroll by X date in order to keep your scholarship.

I think I understand it correctly; it says, “To avoid cancellation of your scholarship, you must must commit to the university by January 31, 2013.”

Oops, I didn’t mean to say “must” twice.

You have to decide what’s more important to you. The possibility of getting into the honors program at your favorite or the money at one of the other two. Unless it’s a small school or you’d be a huge asset to their program, I doubt they’ll bend too much for you.

I don’t have much experience here, but you might want to find out what “commit” really means. Does it just mean paying the admittance deposit (which may be refundable until May 1) or does it mean withdrawing your applications from other schools.

Maybe you should ask on the parents’ board - someone on there could probably give you more help.
