What should I do please help

I am a freshmen in Cerritos community college and I want to transfer over to a UC as a bio major so expectedly I would have to take 4 Chem classes including chem 111 which I want to drop due to the fact I have no background knowledge on chemistry. The problem is I can’t get into an introductory Chem class because every class is full. I don’t know what to do I’ve talked to the counselors but they’re not helping at all and it looks like I would have to stay another year at my community college just because of one class.

Is there another community college in the area that offers the Intro Chem class? I know of several CCC students that take classes at 2 different community colleges to get all their pre-req courses completed in a timely manner.

Do you need to have the credit for the Intro Chem class on your transcript? I suspect that you don’t. If that is the case, I suggest approaching an Intro Chem instructor to see of she/he will let you informally sit in on the class. You will learn what you need to be better-prepared to take Chem 111.

Use Assist.org to see what classes you need to transfer. I know for my CA CC they offer a chemistry class for those who don’t have any prior knowledge to chemistry and this is what you take before you start the main intro class. Look at other community colleges and see what they offer.
