How do you go about a waiting list?? I am an international s, so I really dont know what SLC is expecting from me. How do I get me out of the waiting list?/ how probable is this ?? thanks.

Maybe send another recommendation and a piece of your finest creative work. A letter explaining why you want to go to the school could be nice too.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but SLC admits almost no one off the wait list. I don't remember the exact statistic, but it was something like 3 people in the last 5 years, all 3 of which were in the same year. This year the college also recieved the 2nd highest number of apps ever, so I very seriously doubt they'll let anyone in off the wait list this year, sorry.

how nice of you to keep her hopes up! :-P

No offense keats1, but you're way off. First of all, yes there were many applications, but many of the accepted students, including the ones I know personally, are not planning to enroll -- there will be space. Also, in the letter from the head of the college, it was stated that usually around 20 or so are admitted off the waitlist.

If you know you want to attend SLC pursue it as hard as you can. SLC has a 32% yield. In order to get 380 freshman they need to accept almost 1200 people. So, obviously, there are hundreds of kids around the US who are planning to say "no" to SLC. There are several people from my S's school who may also be saying "no". We'll see. Lets hope that enough say no so that the OP gets in, but Keats1, a pragmatist, is not way off base on this one.

I work in the admissions office. I will be very honest with you: your chances are slim to none. This is absolutely no reflection on you as a person or a student--it's just that we have hundreds of people on the waitlist and at MOST five spots will open up. In the last five years, we've taken fewer than ten people off the waitlist. Last year we took none."

So I'm afraid I'm not "way off base" but I wish you good luck nonetheless.

Well, nonetheless, I put more trust in an official letter from the head of school than an anonymous comment on Livejournal -- that could have been anyone posting.

They accept 100 kids ED, so to get the remaining 280 regular decision kids, they have to accept around 725
