So here's my situation, perhaps i can get some advice from people who have more experience than me, that would be ideal. I'm at a four year, UC Irvine, and i'm trying to decide what to double major. I want to do political science,(I understand that its hard to get a job, bla bla bla), but ideally i would love to take my degree and try to be a lobbyist. However, I'm moving at a very fast pace and getting really good grades. Even if I double major, I could graduate a semester/quarter early. So i'm debating between these two options:

Option 1: Major in political science and international relations. This scenario would most definitely be my favorite choice, in terms of whats most interesting to me. I love studying other cultures, governments, etc. Its seems like a lot more exciting to me(I guess you could call me a nerd cause I love my education). So this would be the funnest option for me. HOWEVER, this option clearly looks less appealing to employers. I hear that International studies isn't much different than IR, and they're both hard to get jobs with.

OR

Option 2: I could double major with Political Science and Economics. This path is definitely the less entertaining way. The truth is that I don't like math(Although I do like to program, so I like logical math). However, I keep hearing that those with economic majors learn more practical things, so i'll be learning stuff that will help me. Also, I hear that economics and political science would be much more appealing to employers. I have to take into consideration that I probally wont enjoy my upper div econ classes, but I will enjoy my poli sci upper div classes. Perhaps that will balance out, since one major is math related, and the other is more reading / writing.

Given this knowledge, I want to hear your opinion. What seems like the most viable path to you? Is this whole idea of 'Do what you love, follow your dreams, and all your dreams will come true' cliche way of thinking really the truth? Is it best to just buckle down and work with a econ major instead of an IR major despite me not enjoying it?

Thanks for reading!
