What should I major in if I plan to pursue a JD/MBA dual degree?

Liberal Arts

So it doesn’t matter?

I know for law school it doesn’t matter, but since I need some experience in the workplace to apply for business school, should I major in marketing/economics/business to prepare me for internships, etc ?

Economics if you like. Marketing or business are not good choices for law school.

Something you like that’s intellectually challenging and you will do well in.

JD = good grades, respected major (no vocational degrees)
Business = anything (large fallacy that you need either a BBA or an Econ degree to go into)

Major in whatever makes you happy, and get a good GPA.

Major in the subject that interests you the most and perform well in your studies.

Regardless of your major take introductory courses in economics and accounting. Do not major in business if you intend to get an MBA because you will be repeating a lot of information in the MBA that you hopefully learned as an undergraduate.

If you ultimately want to get an MBA from a top program, you need to major in a subject that will allow you to get an excellent job after graduation. Typically, for a top business school, you will need to have had solid work full time work experience after graduation from college for a minimum of three to five years before applying to business school. You will need to show that you have had increasing levels of responsibility, and, hopefully, promotions, during your time working.

Your major matters less for law school.
