Any information on the qualifications and duties of a market reasearch analyst?
I was thinking majoring in Statistics/Mathematics and minor in Marketing?

Also, I heard that just majoring in Marketing will not be beneficial.

Upon reading the title I thought statistics. Obviously you need some math (Intro calc series, linear algebra, probability theory, maybe a couple more classes) to really understand statistics, but you probably don’t need to get a major in it. Though a majoring in math as well might allow you to be more flexible should you decide you want to do something else later.

I don’t know how much marketing you will need, I always thought the primary field was statistics rather than marketing. If minoring in marketing is an option for you it certainly wouldn’t hurt.

Worked in market research for awhile. Stats is definitely your choice, but I would also recommend minoring (or at least taking some classes) in another field - maybe marketing, maybe something else, depending on what kind of market research you find most interesting.

A couple of communication classes - presentation skills, public speaking - might not be a bad idea for client contact, either.

Math or Stats Definitely, minor in something else for skill building

Agree with all of the above. My DW’s first job was as a marketing research asst. She majored in math and finance.
