What should I major in? My top choices are general chemistry, psychobio, bioengineering, and math/applied sci. I want a high gpa because i'll be a premed, so tell me how hard each major is. To give you an idea of what I can handle:
I have an 800 on the SAT 2 math 2, chem, and bio; I will get around 2300 on the SAT I; and I have some ecs (school cheer, all-star competitive cheer, marching band/colorguard)
Which major would be good for me? I like chemistry, but I heard it is really hard.I'm also pretty good at math. I want to have fun in college so I don't want to spend ALL day studying. I tend to learn fast and not have too much time to study because I like to have lots of ecs.

First focus on getting into UCLA before deciding what to major in here. Then IF you get in, take a couple classes in each area you are interested in, and decide based on those classes. You should be going to college to learn, not to get a good GPA.

out of all of those biochem is probably the hardest. I’d say pick a major that you LIKE as opposed to just one you’ll do well in, otherwise you might as well major in history.

of course, I’m CSE and its hard as **** so i probably resent you just a little right how ahaha

What if that major that she majored in don’t make no money? =P

I’m majoring in history. I dont really know what I can do but Its my passion. Follow your passion. That or go to a job you’re gonna hate

Do math if you want easy. Sounds like you’ve got the mind for it.

to be honest gpa and sat scores don’t reflect how well you’re going to do in college… i have plenty of friends with 2280+ sat 1 and 4.6+ gpa coming into college, only to get 2.0 gpas (engineers) =/

Do what you like! If you don’t know what you like then I recommend taking more GE’s the first few semesters so that you have room to move without losing too much later on. Try to figure out the classes that are similar across all of these fields (Calc?) and those along with your GE’s. Of course toss in a few core major classes from the fields of study that you think you’re most interested in so that you can get a feel for it.

Math is by far the most general out of those choices, so theoretically it would open the most doors after college. Of course it also won’t make you a perfect fit for any one job, so that’s a double edged sword.

Good luck! Keep your mind open =).

I was lucky… sorta, in that my first year (and technically my second year thanks to the financial aid dept) were online at SBCC and I only could take GEs and basic courses so I took I can’t remember how many classes. The consequence was a few lower grades and being stuck at CCC level for 4 years (this next one is my last one) but a lot of classes and I got to see that I really enjoyed Psychology… not to mention I gained a lot of knowledge on the side that’s paid off for me. Oh… and the fact that I have enough classes for, at least an AA/Honors/Transfer in Psychology (by the end of this year), an AA in Liberal Arts… and I might have enough for an AA in Film Studies and an AA in Philosophy too… that’s pretty sweet.

…I tell you that looooong rant to tell you I agree with everyone here, find something you love and do that. Don’t do something just for the money or the prestige or the pressure. Do it cause it’s something that truly makes you happy.
