What Should I Work On In Order To Make It Into JHU, ED?

Hi, I'm currently a rising Junior at one of the best prep schools in the nation(ranked in the top5).
I just finished Sophomore year with a 3.4 GPA(uw),a 2320 SAT, 770SAT math, 730 SAT chem, and school 1st place in the AMC.
I'm also a Freshman and Sophomore year Varsity Basketball, Football and Lacrosse team member.(And I'm going to continue).
I want to try on getting the basketball coach to watch my games next year, because I would love to play D3 Basketball at Hopkins.
I'm applying ED in year 2012.
Do you guys have any suggestions on what I should really work on/add so that my chances of getting accepted are high?
Oh yeah and I'm planning on majoring in business/marketing.

Looks to me like GPA is probably the biggest thing holding you back. Just out of curiosity, why are you so inclined to attend Hopkins if you’re going into business?

I do know that JHU isnt the best place to go if I’m looking to go to a great grad school for business, but it’s the school itself I like. I’ve been on the amazing campus, I like the name, it sounds prestigious when people say they go there, etc. I also have a couple friends who go there and they say that the community is awesome, the academics arent as vigorous as the prep school’s etc.

work on that GPA ( u want 3.8+). Admissions might give u a little leeway because of that above average SAT but 3.7+ at the minimum

Just a head’s up: JHU doesn’t have a business major or a marketing major, just a few classes. With the exception of Penn, I don’t think that any schools ranked in the top 15 have business as an undergraduate major. There’s something of a snobbish disdain for practical business education. It’s usually considered to be a fluffy major and business’s rarely restrict business analyst positions to business majors.

Nonetheless, the ease of finding a business job is somewhat correlated to the quality of a school’s graduate business program and JHU’s program is only a few years old. A lot of people do get good jobs and there’s a decent alumni network, but do your research before you commit to JHU ED.

If you like business subjects, you might want to consider studying Applied Math or Econ at Hopkins.

Really? Hmmmm… JHU is pretty hardcore academically, especially BME.
