I’m a junior in high school wondering what major is most likely to help my pursue my dream of becoming a psychiatrist.
I’ve had relatives in med school tell me that economics is the best degree because schools like something different.
Also, would it be better to get an economics degree from a better school than a finance degree from a worse one?
Get a degree in a subject you are interested in, along with doing the pre med requirements. My nephew was a history & philosophy double major, and got into med school. But don’t major in Econ unless you like it.
No. Medical schools like students they can imagine being doctors. That comes straight from my school’s Dean of Admissions. All the bells and whistles of the application process are about trying to answer that one question: “Can I picture this person as a physician?” The thing is that prior to the 1980s, pretty much no one imagined a non science major could be a physician. Everyone now knows that’s not true.
