Thanks for that link. Unfortunately, all those events are down in the Detroit area. I guess they don’t come up further north. Too bad…our school is one of the top in the state based on standardized test scores (#3, I think). I would think there would be many students here who would qualify for the OOS tuition scholarships. I told my son yesterday that I think I know more about college options than any of his counselors. They really are not very good…I think they are understaffed and over-worked.

Cuttlefish…yes, born and raised in Michigan.

Contact the area rep and tell her about your child’s school. I’m sure that the area-reps would prefer to look for prospective students in an area with strong stats students!

I once told an area rep about a high school that has an unusually large number of NMFs. The rep wasn’t aware of the school and was glad for the info.

wdaveo: One of my Facebook friends has a son at Alabama. They live in Grand Rapids (he is a NM student). We met online (never face-to-face) through the Parent Association’s listserv for parents of freshmen. So, you may want to contact the Parents Association and see if it can put you in touch with other residents of Michigan.

I’m from chicago, illinois. and i cant think of a single reason why anyone would want to stay in state for school when they could go to alabama! rollllll tiiiide!

Welcome Kourtney … We’re from northern Chicago suburbs, feel free to PM me with any questions you may have. There are actually quite a few people here on CC now that are from the Chicagoland area. My D is a freshman this year and is loving it! Roll Tide!

YAY! Another person from New England is on this thread! Hahaha. Although I’m not decided on 'Bama, it’s nice to know that there is someone else from nearby in case I do decide.

wdaveo: we’re from Michigan. My daughter will be attending Fall 2012. UA is coming to her school (Plymouth-Canton) next week. No one signed up but she did because she wants to talk to them and show her support. UA also came down in March or April to Ann Arbor for a recruiting/info session.
