What textbooks do I need for Chem 1A?

Hey,

So I'm planning on taking Chem 1A in the Fall and I was wondering which textbook(s) I need to buy. I'm not interested in buying the carbon print paper, lab book, etc. right now. I only want to buy the textbook(s?) that I will be studying from so that I can read through it (them?) over the summer. On the class schedule it only says that students should buy the chemistry bundle but it does not say which books are included in the bundle. It only mentions that the author is Oxtoby. So is the book that I need to buy "Chemistry: Science of Change, 4th Edition" or has that changed? Can anyone who took the class in the Fall or just now in the Spring tell me this?

Thanks

For each new semester, there is the risk that the department will change to a new edition of a text or change the text entirely, thus it is a bit risky to buy too early. If the text is changed, you will find that the second hand value of the book you already bought drops quite a bit, since demand for it has evaporated.

its a custom edition so you will have to wait to find out. chem 4a (essentially the honors version of the class) is using the oxtoby 7th edition non-custom

Did they use oxtoby’s 4th edition this past year for Chem 1a?

bump
10 char

They used chemistry:a molecular approach 2nd ed for last semester
