What the hell happened in LOST?

I saw that there was no thread. I ended up more confused than I'd been in the last 6 seasons.

Anyone care to share their opinions?

I was like ***F?!?! NO QUESTIONS WERE ANSWERED!!!

Check out the few last pages…if not satisfied, search Google…lots of blog posts

Lost is a show that you have to THINK and FOLLOW HARD. It’s not one of those shows that just hand everything to you on a plate.

Basically, the alternate reality was them already dead - they were moving on to heaven. It was their purgatory, per say.

In the island, Locke dies. Jack gives his candidate powers to Hurley and Ben becomes Hurley’s Richard, Jack saves Desmond and reactivates the light and dies himself.

AMAZING finale. I loved it.

That’s what Lost does to you, it makes you lost.

Awesomeness happened until Shayid showed up. Then I just chundered everywhere.

^No, awesomeness happened for the entire episode.

And why did it go wrong when Sayid showed up? O_o

Yeah, what about Nadia? Whatever.

The alternative world is purgatory. They were dead.

The island was real. Boone and Shannon died on the island. Jack later died in that episode. We can assume the plane flew off safely and those passengers live their lives (Sawyer, Kate, Richard!, etc). Hurley is the new Jacob, and Ben is a REAL #2 for once.

I thought the finale was very good. :)

But the creators CLEARLY said it was NOT purgatory…

So is Aaron, the baby, dead as well?

^^that is the assumption…according to today’s NYTImes, everyone who was in that church died…eventually…

[Television - No Longer ‘Lost,’ but Fans Are Still Searching - NYTimes.com](<a href=“No Longer ‘Lost,’ but Fans Are Still Searching - The New York Times”>No Longer ‘Lost,’ but Fans Are Still Searching - The New York Times)

Basically they wrapped up LOST without many answers because the point of it was Jack (and the rest of the cast’s) journey as a redeemable character. I got out of it that the island was real but the sideways life was a happy world/purgatory/judgement place. Haha. Someone mentioned that maybe Hurley made it for them (as island protector).

I absolutely hated the finale at first but I’m coming to terms with it. I didn’t like the hyper-happy ending. I expected a tragedy from Lost but maybe that’s why the show is so excellent: I was thrown off and had no clue it’d be a happy ending! I might rewatch it now with a more open mind.

Look at it this way: everyone in that church died eventually. Some sooner, some later.

They were all bought back to their age during the most important point in their lives - the Island. And from there, they ‘moved on’ like Christian said.

^Right, because EVERYONE dies.

And Lost was also about finding the good in man–be it Ben Linus, John Locke, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, despite horrible things they may have done. So I don’t know why a feel-good ending is a surprise?

I kind of want a spin-off showing Richard’s life in the real world.

So David=fake? Or just a mere tool? I suppose.

I hope most people realized a LONG time ago that all the “answers” would not be given (which I am fine with, for the most part, though there are certainly things they DID drop the ball on (e.g. Walt))

Is that sarcasm? Because that’s what happened in the show. Everyone at the church died.

^No. It was not sarcasm. It’s the truth. Everyone does die, including you and me. It just happened to the characters at different points. Yeah, I know they were all dead. I said that.

Chocolatebanana:apparently the Walt question will be answered in the bonus stuff on the DVD being released on August 24th…

^^

Sorry, sounded like sarcasm. My bad. :/

Speaking of which, why didn’t Ben go in the church? He’s definitely dead since he was in the alt. reality but does the church mean that he wasn’t ready to ‘move on’?
