What time are regular decision applications due?
Thanks
I’d send that application along before they can date stamp it as received on 1/11. CA advises to send by 11:59 pm local time on the day of the deadline . . . but GU doesn’t use the CA so assume GU’s Eastern Time zone, not yours (if different).
Thank you! I really appreciate the help. I was assuming the deadline was 11:59 EST tonight, but I wasn’t certain.
I’d still send it along earlier than 11:59 ET.
I just submit my application two hours ago. The confirmation page said that I will receive an email containing a user name and password with which I can create my application portal. With the application portal I can submit my supplemental essay. But it also said the supplemental essay is due today. What if I receive the email tomorrow then I can not make the supplemental before midnight tonight. This is confusing. Please help
Oh no…, if you’re saying what I think you’re saying you only filled out the basic information. They will send an email which will let you gain access to the supplementary stuff, but idk why it’s called that because that’s the root of the app. There are two mandatory supplemental essays and you have to fill out your activities and honors.
@KelleyMa2017: Both application and supplement are due today 1/10. In their instructions, GU encouraged everyone to submit that application and fee early on so that they could open up an official admissions file and begin receiving test scores and rec. letters immediately, well before the supplement needed to be handed in. Once you receive the user name and password, you can access a detailed supplement to complete which consists of several parts - not just the essay component. At least that’s how it worked for me son last fall. Not sure how you even know the essay prompts as Essay #2 is specific to the program you are applying to and I thought the questions were only made available through the supplement. Did you find the essay prompts on the website?
Yes, the form only filled out the basic information. I have been working on my supplements for the past couple days, and once I finished and went to the application to submit everything, I didn’t expect to have a delay between paying for the application and being able to submit it. I’m planning on emailing their admissions office and attaching my supplemental questions, and maybe a pdf form of my common app so they can see my activities list and stuff. If you have any other advice, I’d sincerely appreciate it. Thanks!
Um, @KelleyMa2017 - where did you get the supplement if you haven’t received the e-mail yet to access it?
By the way, the confirmation page said that I may receive the email within 24 hours. I hope I can receive the email within several minutes.
@JBStillFlying , I did not know I need to submit the fee and basic application early on. I thought the deadline is today.
what is the supplement?
@JBStillFlying , what is the supplement?
@KelleyMa2017 - the supplement is the rest of the application. It contains crucial information and directions, along with a specific configuration for your activities, your testing history, and the rec. form that needs to get to your teacher and counselor. Finally, it contains the essay prompts, including the essay that is specific to your course of study. It also provides the method of attaching your files so that the application is complete on its own. You actually do need the supplement.
Just a heads up. You might be better off begging for an extension and using their system instead of sending in portions of your Common App. It’s NOT the same thing as the Georgetown application, and that’s for a reason. They go into detail on their website about this. If you want to do the one thing to demonstrate that you didn’t read the directions on the admissions website, it would be to send in your Common App.
"There are two mandatory supplemental essays . . . "
Actually there are three essays. Two, each up to a full page, single spaced. One that is a half page, single spaced. There is also a component that you paste or type in and doesn’t specify a format. The limit there is 250 words.
@JBStillFlying , thank you a lot.
