These are smart kids they see a pattern they are going to draw a conclusion. I would if it were me. @ccwhiz calculations may be a little tenuous but the gist of her argument is strong: how can there be so many acceptances being reported here with a complete absence of anything else? How big can the sample size of CC posters possibly be? I have lost count of the number of acceptances but its more than a “few” If they truly did send out all the accepts why on earth wait 24 more hours to send the bad news? Thats just mean
@LifeLongNYer At least I know that my 98.9 chance of rejection is now 99.9
@UIButton your sense of humor will serve you well. There are other fish in the sea. Its not Exeter or die. I wish you success tomorrow!
@LifeLongNYer thank you!!
@LifeLongNYer - It’s not just mean- it’s despicable. Everyone who submitted an application ( to Exeter ) deserves a lot better than this.
I feel like (correct me if I’m wrong) although this may as well have been a mistake, it shows a little bit of elitism… This may be due to my many days awake (woohoo I think this is day 3?) but… i don’t know… this gives off a horrible image to Exeter… and I know they work super hard to obtain a great one… One of the reasons I might not apply to JHU for college (LOL nope still applying there XD)
Yes, it makes me wonder if the rejections/waitlists were accidentally sent out, would Exeter then provide an explanation? Perhaps they feel as if their work is done already.
What would they say exactly? We’re sorry and congratulations?
There is another school that for years insisted that ALL notifications were mailed on the 10th when in fact, acceptances were sent FedEx earlier to arrive on the 10th, effectively letting admitted students know a day or two before the others. (I hear that they have moved to electronic notifications now.) The only difference I see is that the school that shall remain nameless did it intentionally and workout acknowledging it. To me, that is a detestable practice, especially when it’s not even admitted. Exeter had a technical error.
It is an unfortunate glitch, but not nearly as bad as erroneously telling someone they were accepted when they were not.
@neatoburrito I agree… I hope they weren’t all the acceptances although I think there was a good chance they were… Error, yes, and you’re right… I’m glad they weren’t like “here’s candy LOL no wait that’s for that guy over there.”
If someone who didn’t receive an exeter email today gets accepted tomorrow, please notify us so we can just call it a glitch.
Yes, of course. @Huggles
@Huggles of course
Just wait for college… All kinds of people get special early notifications via the likely letter. It’s a terrible practice.
“We’re a thousand miles from comfort. We have travelled by land and sea. But as long as you are with me, there’s no place I’d rather be.”
Tomorrow will be an interesting day. Wishing a good evening to all!
It looks like only acceptances were mailed in this batch. When I spoke to the admissions secretary, she said that a “small batch” was sent out early by mistake. I asked if all the decision letters were real (still in disbelief about the acceptance) and was told the “acceptances, waitlists, and rejections were accurate.” My interpretation was that all 3 of these decision letters were released, but it seems obvious that only acceptances were sent as no one seems to have received a different letter. I hope more acceptances are on the way. Good luck to all.
Nothing as of yet. Also, I think someone hacked by CC account on another computer bc I can’t get in and get all sorts of different adds that stop me.
It’s 6:41 EST right now and I haven’t gotten anything yet so nervous
Just got the email, I was wait listed. Its not too bad because I at least know that I was considered and I still technically have a chance to make it off the wait list. It also shows I’m a strong enough candidate for the other schools I applied to.
My son wait listed, too. Any info about how many people are wait listed?
Son got in to Exeter via yesterday’s weird email. Still finding it hard to believe without talking to admissions. Wait listed everywhere else so far including the school my DD goes to. Waiting on Andover… Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone.
