I am visiting NU in early October!
Yay!! so excited (high school senior btw)
but what do you think are some important questions to ask the admissions officer ?
I sure do want to impress him/her but will that even matter ?
Do they actually keep track of your visits and consider that as a factor???

My advice: don’t fret over asking meaningless questions unless you are actually curious. As a personal aside, I did not visit NU before I applied - in fact I didn’t go until Wildcat Welcome. I was never in contact with an admissions officer and did not interview. I put a lot of effort into my essay which managed to show originality and a great deal of interest in the university.

I truly believe that every little bit helps, but don’t get carried away with it. Your essay will carry more force than any question that you ask an admissions officer which could probably be looked up online. Truthfully. Some schools keep a tally on who visited and some don’t - I’m not sure which side of the fence NU is on. But if you won’t to try to wheedle your way into the minds of admissions, you might as well give him/her a business card with your picture and a mini resume on it.

So, it all boils down to whether or not you really have a question. Don’t force yourself to ask something meaningless. Colleges like a show of interest; so, if you have an excellent question then…shoot!

I second Tinfoyls’ post. My D did go on tour, but asked no questions, and did not interview. October is a great time to visit though, and I am sure you will have a great time.
Be yourself, and if you want to ask a question, go ahead. I recomend after the guided tour, trying to see the department of the school you are intrerested in. So, if you are a techie, or and Enginerd, see Tech. Good luck, and GO CATS!
