I'm beginning to start a list of what to bring but i remember reading a post a while ago with a huge list of things to bring. I cant seem to find it now. Could someone show me? thanks a lot!

I'm posting the link with a big caveat... you don't need most of the stuff listed! My advice is to pair down and to bring as little as possible. That way, move-in will go smoothly and not be so stressful. The rooms are tiny and you can always buy anything you need in Ithaca (even the campus bookstore has most dorm necessities).

If you must buy all of your dorm organizers, etc, before you arrive on campus... I suggest going to your local Bed, Bath and Beyond if you have one. Go to the "registry" and they will give you a scanner and you walk around the store scanning everything you order and you can pick up everything in their Ithaca store. If you don't have a local BB&B, then you can register online.

If the organizers, etc. don't fit into your room, or you change your mind they are returnable.

The BIG LIST starts at post #21. Here's the link: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=47961&page=1&pp=15

P.S. Check Cornell's list also. They have some rules, for example you cannot have a halogen lamp in your room because it's a fire hazard. You also are restricted to using removable blue tape to hang your posters, etc. Some of the RAs keep a watchful eye during move in. You can't use the sticky blue adhesive... you can buy the tape at the campus bookstore.

I'm planning on getting:
[ul]
[]10 T-shirts
[]2 pairs of Jeans
[]4 pairs of Three fourths (or bermudas...whatever u call them)
[]Undergarments
[]2 sweaters
[]2 sweat shirts
[]10 Single ruled 200page Soft bounds long notebooks
[]3 Gel pens with 5 refills
[]A few of the college text books lying around in my place.
[]Laptop (buy in US)
[]iPod
[]Cell Phone (buy in US)
[/ul]

Is there anything that absolutely important that I missed? We can buy the jackets at Ithaca, right?

You'll need bedding (Pillows, sheets, blanket, etc.) and towels. A bathrobe is handy too. Also, cheap rubber sandals to wear in the shower.

I suggest reading this discussion as it is one of the most comprehensive. It lists the essentials as well as many extras. As you go through it, you will be able to determine whether or not the items are ones that you would want to have at college--not everyone wants or needs the same things.

And remember, you can always get what you need once you are there (on campus, in Ithaca, purchased online, or sent from home).

im bringing my snowboard & gear, ice skates, and big screen tv =)

Hey Arjun, I met with some current Cornellians I know a few weeks ago and they told me not to bring textbooks, since you won't use those you bring.

Make sure you get the extra long twin sheets for your beds.
