Hey people. my name is Iqra. im from pakistan. i was born in UK and im a british but due to some reasons i had to be in pakistan, since childhood im here. my father is not financially too good. he is not being able to pay the dues of us all. we are six borthers and sisters! he wants me to be in US and study and work myself, suggest me what is better for me. tell me if i go to USA what would be the expenses of school or college! i am 18 years old.i want to be a doctor!

Well, Iqra, I’m going to be very honest with you: America is a terrible place to pursue a medical degree. You would be MUCH better off studying in Pakistan or the UK. Since the UK gives no scholarships, the education would cost you a lot so Pakistan seems like the best option for you. Why is America terrible for a medical degree? Well, first of all, it takes you much longer to become a doctor. In Pakistan, you can pursue medicine straight after A level / Fsc. In America, you’ll have to do four years of pre med and then you’ll have to go to med school for several more years of education. Secondly, it is also MUCH more expensive. Despite the fact that scholarships are available for undergrad, the education will still cost you some money and then since med school gives no scholarships, you’ll have to cough up a lot of money. Thirdly, med school is unbelievably hard to get into in America and the vast majority of people who want to go to it can’t. Finally, you cannot work for any significant pay in America while you are engaged in academic endeavors due to visa restrictions. All of these factors make it clear that America would be a terrible idea for a medical education. I recommend that you stay in Pakistan. Doing Fsc would be a good idea since it is easier to get into good medical schools in Pakistan after it but you could also do A-level if you want to (the odds against A-level students are not so bad anymore). I’d like to conclude this by saying that lets suppose that you ignore all logic and decide to go to America for a medical education: Lets assume you are SUPER smart and get a VERY generous scholarship for undergrad. You’ll still have to pay like 4-7 lac rupees per year for four years. Then for med school after that, you’ll have to probably pay close to 70 lac per year for a few years. That is obviously A LOT of money.
