What to do at Colgate? Intermurals

I've heard a lot of great things about Colgate but I was wondering, what is there to do on weekends and at night? Since Colgate is so far away from things and theres no real town, do students tend to get bored staying on campus? I don't have any problems with the drinking aspect of college but I feel like that will get a bit tiring every weekend if I don't switch things up a bit. So, what other things are there to do on campus?

Also, are intermural teams big at Colgate? I'd love to continue volleyball into college but I'm not sure if I want to be on an actual sports team which is quite the time suck

Thank you!

Intramurals are very popular at Colgate.

Is the tai jutsu intramural very active? My son has been studying tai jutsu since kindergarten and is now 2nd degree black. Are most belts higher or lower than that?

Hi DougBetsy,

I know tai jutsu is definitely active on campus. I've seen them perform every semester at Dancefest, but I think it's safe to assume they probably ahve other performances as well. I've tried to send you a personal email with the contact information of a friend who is in the group to answer more specific questions re: level of skill, etc.

How's the soccer scene?

HUGE. my favorite games to go watch are soccer, as they are at night (well, women are usually a little earlier). They are also very good (tied for first right now in patriot league).

in terms of INTRAMURALS and INTERMURALS, soccer is HUGE, probably the biggest club sports, both men;s and women's. I was on a varsity team as a freshman and i felt really left out because I didn't have time to join the club soccer team which was a great way to meet people! I have good friends who are still on the team and it's a wonderful group to be part of. I think they do pretty well too!
