What to do during my Summer before Senior Year?

Hi everyone!
Hope you are all having a great day.

I am currently a junior level high school student.

Can anyone give me some advice on what to do the summer after my junior year?

I feel like my academics are fine(Straight A’s 9th, 10th, 11th grade fall, 4 AP courses this year(Statistics, Calculus BC, Physics 2, English Language and Compositions), 1450 SAT(Hoping to retake and get at least 1500)). In school, I hold an office position in the Math club and go to a science club, both of which I regularly attend.

I have read on lots of forum discussions that those summer programs at colleges do not help very much for college applications. Should I go get a part time job? Volunteering? Should I start grinding out college applications?

I have almost no ECs by the way. My stats is essentially purely academic. I stand out in no ways in terms of extracurriculars.

I have volunteered as a physics and math mentor at a local library for the past few summers(I have around 100 hours of community service cumulative).

I am hoping to get into a decent college. Perhaps UC David, or Irvine if possible? I am hoping to become a physicist when I grow up.

If anyone can give me some advice on what to do over the summer, that would be wonderful and much appreciated! Thanks.

Get a job. Save some money to put toward your college expenses, and start collecting at least some worl experience so the next job can be a better one!

I’m only a senior myself, but I agree that getting a job is definitely a good idea. Not only does it allow you to earn some money, it’s also a great thing to put on applications  You also could start researching colleges that you’re interested in, and write a rough draft of your Common App essay/any supplements you will have to do- or at least start brainstorming some ideas for them! I did this last summer, and it definitely lowered my stress levels during the first few months of the school year.

My daughter worked, volunteered, did a week long engineering program, and worked on applications.

Getting a job was a must.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Since most of you guys recommended me to get a job, perhaps that is what I will do.

@Cowsreal FYI. I started a thread last week on a similar topic: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/college-confidential-cafe/2122901-best-colleges-and-universities-for-students-with-top-stats-but-no-leadership-abilities.html

There were some comments to the effect that CA state schools are a good choice for high stats, low (or no) EC students.
